Sweet basil "Alla Canella" (Cinnamon) - Ocimum basilicum.
Hardy Annual Herb.
Height: 14-16 inches. Fragrant, spicy leaves.
Sowing Instructions: sow from late winter to spring 1.5mm (1/16in) deep in good seed compost.
Germination usually takes 14-21 days at +21+24°C.
Growing Instructions: transplant when large enough to handle into 8 cm (3in) pots.
Later harden off and plant out 38 cm (15in) apart into ordinary well drained soil in full sun, when all risk of frost is past.

Grade value: high productivity and aromaticity.
It is recommended for fresh use as salad greens, spicy-flavoring additive and natural flavoring in cooking and canning.
Basil is grown on light, fertile soils that are well warmed by the sun - in seedlings: the seeds are sown in a greenhouse or in pots on the windowsill, the seedlings dive, the plants are moderately watered, and the greenhouses are regularly ventilated, as the seedlings rot at high humidity.
They are usually planted in open ground after June 10, when the soil warms up well and you can no longer be afraid of frost.
Basil does not require special care - just remove weeds and loosen the ground. However, very often in Estonia it still lacks warmth, grows poorly and looks weak.
Therefore, if the summer is not hot, then it is better not to transplant it into the ground, but leave it in the greenhouse - between peppers and cucumbers.
In this case, the benefit is double: the basil grows in full force, and other plants, due to its phytoncidal properties, are protected from aphids and other pests.
Dried in the shade and powdered, the shoots and leaves of the plant are best stored in a hermetically sealed container, in a dark place - then the aroma of greens will last for a long time.
And if you want to have fresh basil all the time, then plant it on the windowsill in an ordinary flower pot ...
